The Murray Schooner Award


We are honored to recognize outstanding Service Disabled Veteran Owned Businesses with the annual Murray Schooner award.

Murray Schooner, the "godfather" of procurement who passed away in 2010. The tribute recognized a man who has had a tremendous impact on small business opportunities in the federal marketplace, particularly for VOSBs and SDVOSBs. Thanks to the generosity of FEDMINE.US, we awarded the the first annual Murray Schooner Award to a deserving service disabled veteran owned small business at the 2011 VIB Cnference, and expect to do so again this year. 

The recipient will receive more than $5,000 worth of services, including a one-year subscription to  FEDMINE.US, valued at $3,950, training/coaching on utilization of the subscription for business development, two tickets to the 2012 VIB conference, and a free year's access to any trainings offered by the Small Business Development Center at CBP. 

Qualifications:

To apply for this award you must be registered to attend the 2012 Veteran’s in Business Conference and have been awarded at least one government contract or subcontract.  To take part in this prestigious award please forward the selection committee the following documentation:

  1. Capability Statement for your business indicating that the business is Service Disabled Veteran Owned Company
  2. A short written explanation of how the Murray Schooner award would impact you and your business.
  3. Business must have no more than 15 employees
  4. Revenues of no more than $10 million for 2011.

The committee will review all applications and the winner will be announced at the lunchtime session of the 2012 conference.
